Home Remedies to Get Fairer Underarms

  • Sugar & Lemon

In a bowl take 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar and squeeze 1 lemon to it. Mix it properly. Apply the mixture to your underarms and leave it to dry for about 10 minutes. Once it dries completely, gently scrub your underarm for 2 minutes and then wash with Luke warm water. This exfoliates your skin, lightens the texture of your arms and kills bacteria trapped in the skin of the underarms that results in darkening of your underarms.

 

  • Potato

The mild acidic property present in potatoes is a great natural bleaching agent. Unlike strong bleaching agents, it will not cause skin irritation. Simply rub a thin slice of potato on your underarms. You can also grate the potato and apply the juice to the affected area, allow it to dry for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Use either of these remedies twice daily for better and faster results.

 

  • Baking Soda

Accumulation of dead skin cells is the main reason for dark discoloration under the arms. The exfoliating nature of baking soda removes the dead skin cells and unclogs the pores. Instead of using antiperspirants and deodorants, you can use baking soda to prevent body odour which is also one of the reason for dark underarms. Mix baking soda and water to create a paste and apply to your underarms. Gently scrub for a minute, then wash off with clean water and pat dry. You can dust baking powder on the skin for a lighter appearance. Alternatively, you can use rosewater instead of water. Repeat 3 to 4 times a week. You can simply wipe your underarms with baking soda and water solution. To neutralize body odour, mix equal parts of baking soda and corn starch and dust it on underarms.

 

  • Cucumber

If it’s a competition among veggies, you’ll have to use those cucumbers lying in your refrigerator too because they too have skin lightening properties. What’s even better is that if you want to get the benefits of bleaching properties of lemon, you can do so by combining lemon juice with cucumber. While lemon works to bleach your skin, cucumber soothes the skin avoiding any itching or irritation. Mix lime juice with cucumber juice and add a pinch of turmeric to it. Lemon bleaches and removes dead cells, cucumber provides cooling effect and turmeric prevents discoloration. It is actually an ayurvedic remedy- so easy that you can do it every day without any hassle! You can also simply cut roundels of cucumber and rub your underarms with it. Or apply the pure juice of cucumber to your dark underarm. This can also lighten your skin there in few days.

 

  • Yogurt & Orange

In a bowl mix 2 tbsp. of fresh yoghurt and some dried orange peel powder. Apply the paste to your underarms and allow it to dry for about 15 minutes. Once it dries completely wash with cold water and apply some moisturiser to it to prevent drying of your underarms. This lightens your underarm considerably and makes your underarm smooth and soft. The lactic acid in yoghurt eliminate the discolouration.

 

  • Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is another good option to get rid of dark underarms. Coconut oil contains vitamin E that can help lighten the underarms. At the same time, it will also work as an effective natural deodorant. Massage the dark underarms with coconut oil. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash it off with mild soap and lukewarm water. Repeat two or three times daily until you achieve the desired results.

 

  • Saffron

Saffron is a bit expensive thing to use for underarms but it can give you priceless white underarms. You can even save money by not buying any deodorant because saffron can kill germs and bacteria that cause underarm odour. Take a little milk. Take a few strands of saffron and mix them with milk. Apply to your underarms. If you leave it overnight and wash off in the morning, it’s the best way to get the benefits of milk and saffron. If not overnight, you can let the mixture sit there for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with water.
